Item Description...
If you want to know where and how the church is going to grow, think local and global. Think glocal. Glocal is Bob Roberts' term for the seamless connectedness between the local and global. That connection is affecting the church in ways that never could have been imagined in the first-century church, or even the twentieth-century church. And it's creating unprecedented opportunities for individuals and churches-for you and your church-to live out their faith in real time across the world. Glocalization offers a vision of the unprecedented changes of our times and how they are impacting the church. Discover how these changes will transform the way churches define their mission and how Christians relate to one another and to the world. This provocative book turns the traditional mission-agency model upside down and shows how transformed people and churches can make a glocal (global and local) impact. Glocalization offers an exciting vision for churches and individuals who want to reach this changing world for Christ. |

And I thought Transformation was great. . .Glocalization Rocks! I won't be going back to Asia until late summer. This book has put me on pins and needles. I would jump on an airplane today if I could. Go Bob! To my knowledge, no one has ever written a book quite like this. I closed the last chapter pumped and ready to go serve in our Asian country again, and yet I also felt a profound sadness at the fact that the thoughts inside this book are so foreign to the majority of Believers. I definitely plan to do my part in sharing this book with many. Bob, I love it that you are a practitioner first and an author on the side. That alone is one of the things that makes your book so profound. | | | | Leave your country! Feb 23, 2007 |
| Leave you country! This book will help you to get out of your country. I thank this book for opening my eyes to see Big pictrue bigger than my country. This book is for those who are stuck on their small pariotic churches. I think Bob Roberts is the one who left his country by staying his country for His country. As an Asian, I pray Asian chruches to learn Glocal focus from this humble Western pastor. This book is not about building American chruch or Asian church but about building His church for His country. Leave your country! Glocalization will help you. | | | | A Book For All Domains Feb 15, 2007 |
This book is for you only if in you fit into one of the domains of society (i.e. government, art, education, business, etc.). If you are a pastor, you cannot help but be motivated at your revised job description, namely, "to get the people sitting in our pews to use their vocations in a natural way to connect locally and internationally". Your new gauge of effectiveness is "How many laypeople am I mobilizing?"
If you are a Westerner, then you will be pointedly asked if you can "see and submit to what God is doing and be a servant to the East instead of a leader".
If you are a Western professional, you will be challenged to go engage emerging nations and seek the stability of those around it. You will get a crash course in being glocal, and seeing this not as a clever church program/strategy/platform, but a legitimate mindset for the integration of your faith in God and practice of your trade.
Finally, Bob is a student of Friedman, Zakaria, Jones, Ghandi, Bono and Capra. This atypical pastor is providing leadership into an atypical, but extraordinary, societal/global transformation. Take your leaders through this book, whoever you are.

| Written to assist the church in responding to the realities demonstrated in Thomas Friedman's "The World is Flat," Roberts does an exceptional job in casting vision and demonstrating some nuts and bolts things that churches can do to impact the nations of the world. Taking a service approach to the nations, Roberts asserts that Christians can and must take advantage of the "flat world" in partnering with countries to provide infrastructure, educational systems, hospitals, etc. This is a great book--one that any pastor or leader should read. | | | | One of the most profound books you will ever read Feb 7, 2007 |
| Bob has written an absolutely profound book. My copy came 2nd day yesterday and I read it last night. I have already bought one copy for a pastor friend, will be buying 4 copies for blogging friends, and will buy a copy for anyone in my church that will read it and talk about it with me. The word profound is far too weak a work, but the only one I can come up with at the moment. | | | Write your own review about Glocalization: How Followers of Jesus Engage a Flat World
